Outdoor Living in Phoenix, AZ
In Arizona, the backyard is the room you fight hardest to use. Ten months of the year the weather is spectacular — but without shade, a place to cook, and somewhere comfortable to sit, most Phoenix backyards sit empty. AZ Outdoor Concepts designs and builds complete outdoor living spaces that fix exactly that: covered ramadas, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and seating areas that make the yard genuinely livable from October through May, and comfortable well into the summer evenings.
Every build starts with how you actually live. A family that cooks outside four nights a week needs a very different island layout than one that hosts twice a year. We plan around sun angles, prevailing breezes, sightlines from the kitchen window, and where the shade will actually fall at 4pm in July — then design the structure, hardscape, and utilities around that. Gas, water, electrical, and lighting get roughed in during the build, not bolted on afterward.

What Our Clients Say
“I will start by saying I was not asked to leave a review and did not know of this company before hiring them for our pool remodel. We could not have had a better experience with Az Pool Concepts. Our pool looks amazing and the whole process was so easy and seamless. Shawn was in constant communication about what and when things were happening, he was here every day overseeing the work being done and was always available by text with any questions we had. He exceeded our expectations and I truly cannot recommend them enough.”

“I hired Shawn and AZ Pool Concepts to demo and remove a permanent grill and fire pit to create more space, replace travertine that had been eroded by my salt pool with pearlescent limestone. Shawn and his team did an excellent job. His communication, integrity and customer service are all top notch, along with customer satisfaction in the project When I was looking to hire someone these are the attributes I was looking for. I highly recommend AZ Pool Concepts.”

“What a great experience... from the time we first contacted him to the finished product! Communication was quick and clear, the timeframe to start the job was excellent and the finished product looks amazing. We interviewed 6 companies and Shawn was the best candidate by far. We will use them again.”

“Shawn responded to my email inquiry the next morning, and came out that day to bid on our Travertine Patio and walkway job. His pricing was very fair, and actually got the whole job done in three days!! We went on vacation the day the crew started, and came home to a perfect install, clean-up, and could not be happier!”

Learn MoreWe build with materials chosen for the desert, not for a catalog photo. Powder-coated steel and heavy timber ramadas that won't check and split, stucco and stacked-stone islands, commercial-grade grills and burners, and countertop surfaces that survive 115-degree afternoons without fading or chipping. The result is an outdoor room that looks like part of the house and holds up like it too.

More About Our Outdoor Living Work
AZ Outdoor Concepts is a full outdoor living contractor serving the greater Phoenix metro, and outdoor living is where most of our projects start. We pair structures and kitchens with the hardscape, turf, and planting around them so the finished yard reads as one design instead of a collection of separate purchases made over five years.
We're a small, family-owned company, which means the person who designs your space is the person you'll see on site. Contact us for a free on-site consultation anywhere in the Valley and we'll walk your yard with you.
Our Process
How We Work
Free Design Consultation
We walk your yard with you, talk through how you actually want to use the space — cooking, entertaining, shade, play, low upkeep — and get a feel for materials, layout, and budget. No pressure, no obligation.
Custom Design & Estimate
You get a full backyard design and a clear, itemized written estimate covering layout, hardscape materials, structures, plants, and timeline — and we handle the permitting with your city.
Build & Installation
Our own crews handle every phase — grading and drainage, compacted base, pavers, walls, structures, turf, irrigation, and planting — built to hold up to Arizona sun, monsoon runoff, and caliche soil.
Walkthrough & Aftercare
We clean up, walk the finished space with you, and show you how to care for it. We're not perfect, but we'll always be here when you need us.
